Area Training

Oonagh Meyer is offering us two spookbusting clinics at her yard - Woodyard, The Green, Wilmington, East Sussexon Wed 21st Aug, 5 pm onwards, and Sat 26th Oct 1pm onwards.

The clinics will run in grous of up to 4, each session for up to an hour and a half depending on horse and rider combinations. Each session costs £20, subsidised to £15 by Area.

To book, please post a cheque for £15 made payable to 'Area 13 Liason Committee' to Sarah Williams, 12a Park Road, Rottingdean BN2 7HL, specifying which session you would like to attend, with details of horse and rider ability.

Dressage Training


Area Training: Alison Short Dressage Training at Grendon House, Wheatsheaf Rd, Albourne. West Sussex. 18th May, but other dates may have spaces. Options of half hour £22.50 or 1 hour £45. Perfect opportunity to train with a listed BD judge and National trainer whether test riding or perfecting and learning new movements.
Also offering pole work sessions in a max of four per group for 1 hr at £25 per combination.This is a great way to improve your rhythm to a fence and equally develop greater balance within the paces, working towards the medium paces.

29th June Test Riding Clinic on grass at Pikes Field Cottage, Blackstone Lane, Blackstone, West Sussex BN5 9TF. Perfect time to practice for Area Dressage.

There is a area 13 subsidized X-C beginners class running at Fairoak, Rogate, GU31 5HR, it will be £30 per rider the Trainer will be Ken Spencer the group's will be of4 or 5 riders only, there will be three groups, this is for nervous green horses or nervous green riders or both and will be over the small fences, back protectors must be worn

DTM Choreography demo

To follow the recent DTM Getting Started Demo, Area 13 will be hosting a DTM Planning Choreography demo at Belmoredean Dressage on Saturday 4th May at 1pm. The demo will feature several combinations working at different levels, with insights on what the judges are looking for, and advice on how to catch the judge's eye! £10 to Area 13 members. £15 to non members.

Dressage to Music - 'Getting Started' Demo

Area 13 is hosting a DTM demo at Belmoredean on Saturday 23rd March at 1 pm.

Robbie Carpenter will ride one of his top horses to professionally produced music, then two Area 13 riders will ride two very different RC horses to music supplied by the crowd, to demonstrate how to choose music.
As a group, the crowd, with Robbie's expert help, will put a floorplan together, then attempt putting together a bit of Pas de Deux.

Area 13 Indoor Showing Clinic with Lauren Kingston

Friday 9th March from 6pm to 8 pm

Mounted - £10, Spectators £5

Lauren is a familiar face in the showing world, she consistently wins at major shows such as Royal Windsor, South of England and qualifies for Horse of the Year show where she is in the ribbons with various breeds.

Everyone is welcome; whether you are new to showing, have a young horse that needs the experience or would just like to improve your existing skills.

The two hour period will be split into in hand and ridden. The evening will begin with the in hand followed by the ridden, if attending mounted, please indicate what session you would like to be in.

Lauren will be able to offer friendly help and advice that will consist of turnout for both you and your horse, ring craft, what the judge is looking for and advice on the classes that will suit your horse.

In-hand section to include: Leading in hand, the walk and individual trot round, how to present and stand your horse and the trot up for the judge.

Ridden section to include: useful tips on ring craft including the correct use of the space available and the change of rein. Learn and practise the individual display, learn how to present your horse to the judge and what the judge is looking for.

Rosette for the most promising combination for 2013 in each section.

Not essential but to get the best from this clinic prepare yourself and your horse as you would for a showing class, i.e. clean and correctly dressed and plaited if appropriate.
